Whether you came to the first class or this is your first time - welcome!
This session continues our journey into swing dance, focusing on fundamental partner connection and movement. We'll explore Charleston and Lindy Hop basics through a different lens, building your confidence and expanding your repertoire.
For returning dancers: New moves, new patterns, deeper connection work. You'll build on what you learned while exploring fresh territory.
For first-timers: Everything will be taught from the ground up. No experience needed, no partner required. You'll learn the same foundations in a welcoming, playful environment.
What to expect:
Solo warm-up to get comfortable with the rhythm and music
Partner dancing fundamentals (connection, lead/follow, basic steps)
Rotating partners throughout - meet new people while you learn!
Infectious swing-era music that's impossible not to love
A supportive space where making mistakes is part of the fun
About swing dance: Born in Harlem's jazz clubs in the 1920s-30s, these dances are about joy, connection, and play. The skills you learn here transfer to other partner dances too - we're teaching you a language of embodied connection.
Dance roles (leader/follower) aren't gendered. Come as you are, move how you want.
Wear: Comfortable clothes, shoes that pivot easily, a water bottle.
