What if one of the most powerful technologies for human connection has been hiding in plain sight – in our bodies’ ability to move together to music?
Most of us grew up without social dance as a regular part of life. This isn’t just about missing out on fun; it’s a gap in our embodied social development. Dance offers something our digital tools and verbal exchanges can’t: immediate physical feedback, non-verbal communication, structured reciprocity, and the joy of synchronised movement.
In this light-hearted, beginner-friendly workshop, we’ll explore the fundamentals of partnered social dance — inspired by the joyful rhythms of the Swing Era and drawing from Lindy Hop traditions 🎶
No experience necessary, I love teaching complete beginners! And no need to bring a partner: we’ll rotate partners throughout the class, making it a fun, low-pressure way to connect with others. Dance roles (leader/follower) aren’t gendered here… anyone can lead, anyone can follow 🙌
You’ll leave with:
• Practical skills for social dancing (to any music, really)
• A fresh lens on embodied communication
• New connections with fellow Edge residents
Wear: Comfortable clothes you can move in, and shoes that pivot easily.
