We are honored to welcome Itabashi Michihisa, a monk from Choei-ji Temple in Kyoto, Japan. As chief priest for 15 years at this historic Jodo-sect temple, he upholds the teachings of Master Honen, who aimed to make Buddhism accessible by emphasizing the practice of chanting “Namu Amida Butsu” to reach the Pure Land. Alongside hs work preserving these teachings, Itabashi has also spent the last decade studying meditation in Myanmar and Thailand and will share insights from both Jodo and Southeast Asian Buddhist traditions during our retreat.
Nestled in the mountains of Chiang Mai, Wat Pha Lat is often called a “hidden gem.” This serene temple is seamlessly integrated with the surrounding natural landscape of rocky pathways and gentle streams.
