<Have you heard of Zen? It's a popular term, but it refers to a school of Mahayana Buddhism, a blend of Indian, Chinese and Japanese/Korean/Vietnamese culture. In this workshop, Eric Arnow will walk you through some warmup exercises to make sitting crosslegged more comfortable.
Then, we'll go through the very simple method of Zen practice (quite similar to Vipassana, as well). Eric will give a brief talk about a Zen. Then open the floor to questions, sharing and discussion.
Eric trained for 13 years starting in 1971 at one of the first Zen Centers in the West, the San Francisco Zen Center. Trained as monk for 7 years. Then continued training under other Zen teachers. In 2004, he came to Thailand, attended numerous meditation retreats in Thailand and Myanmar. Then went to China and stayed at several of the most famous temples where China developed Zen (Chan) Buddhism.
Whether you are a total beginner, or more experienced, we can enjoy practicing meditation together! >
