The global tv/film market is stagnating, or maybe even shrinking, with pretty much one single regional exception: Africa. There’s increased demand for African content both within Africa and beyond. How can Africa’s filmmakers , as well as financiers within the space, maximize their chances for success, both creatively and business-wise? How can government industrial policies help build these sectors— and how much potential do they really have to drive growth in developing economies? I’ll talk and theorize about what I’ve gleamed from writing and producing a film project in Kenya (and from my day job as a television writer / producer in Hollywood).
